For Keith Ellison – For Reform & Victory

For Keith Ellison – For Reform & Victory

As a member of the DNC, it is my responsibility to support the candidate for Chairman of the Democratic National Committee who I believe will best build a party capable of reaching out to every party of the Democratic coalition and to organize a party that compete in every state, congressional district, and community. As a vice-chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, I am proud of the role that I have played, collaborating with fellow elected officials, volunteers, and NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley to build that kind of party in New Hampshire.

I was sorry to learn that Ray, a good friend and colleague, decided to withdraw from the race for chairman of the Democratic National Committee. No one in the race for chair has better credentials and better results in winning Democratic races than Ray. It is clear that his message of a renewed 50-state strategy of building the Democratic party in every congressional district in the country and in every county and at the local level has shaped the debate and significantly contributed to the discussion of how to move our party forward.

‘I am happy to learn that Ray has found an ally for his ideas about how to reform our party in Congressman Keith Ellison. Rep. Ellison and I both served as superdelegates for Sen. Sanders’s presidential campaign in Philadelphia and I know that he – immediately and without reservation – poured his energy into electing Sec. Clinton in November, as I did. It is with enthusiasm that I add my voice to Ray’s and wholeheartedly endorse Rep. Keith Ellison for Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.’

While his candidacy has had a hard time building momentum in a race against better known and better funded names nationally, I am happy to learn that Ray has found an ally for his ideas about how to reform our party in Congressman Keith Ellison. Rep. Ellison and I both served as superdelegates for Sen. Sanders’s presidential campaign in Philadelphia and I know that he – immediately and without reservation – poured his energy into electing Sec. Clinton in November, as did I. I am happy to hear that he will be pouring that same energy into rebuilding our party nationally and I’m thrilled that he has already spoken of wanting to take advantage of Ray’s experience and ideas in reshaping our party, were he to win. The two of them together clearly offer a strong and winning team, with more experience in grassroots party building and a stronger plan for strengthening our party than any of the other candidates.

It is with enthusiasm that I add my voice to Ray’s and wholeheartedly endorse Rep. Keith Ellison for Chairman of the Democratic National Committee. I urge my fellow DNC members to look closely at the plans that Rep. Ellison has for rebuilding our party. I believe that they will, like I have, conclude that he is the best person to lead the party during this period of rebuilding.

With best regards,
Sen. Martha Fuller Clark
